Design at Limalimo Lodge

Limalimo Lodge is located on a 10 hectare site on the edge of Ethiopia's Simien escarpment. Guests at the lodge will experience simple luxury and elegant design influenced by rural Ethiopia style in a stunning setting. The bar and restaurant are perched on top of the hill with views along the dramatic escarpment and onto the lowlands below. The 12 rooms are scattered around the site among the trees with views over wooded hillsides.

The restaurant and bar area give you plenty of space to relax in. With spectacular views over Ethiopia's Simien Mountain landscape you can laze on the terrace, stay warm around the fire pit in the evenings, enjoy a delicious meal from our kitchen or curl up in front of the log fire.

All rooms are en-suite with spectacular views. We have twin, double, triple and family rooms. Book your stay with us today.

The lodge has been built using locally sensitive green technology. Buildings are constructed using rammed earth, wood and thatch. The earth for the rammed earth was all collected from the site and has produced beautiful walls that blend into the surroundings. Energy comes from renewable sources, and waste water is reused on site. Our aim is to always seek to reduce our environmental impact wherever possible.

We are working towards replacing the non-native species of trees (largely Eucalyptus) with native species that are slower growing, use less water, allow other species to thrive and provide inviting habitats for local wildlife.

As well as making the building sustainable, we are working with the local community and Ethiopian artisans to ensure the Lodge has a wider impact. Read our blog on working with Ethiopian artisans

There is plenty to explore on the site itself: large acacia trees with hammocks; inviting benches; troupes of Gelada monkeys passing through and much more.
