2 nights at Limalimo, and 2 nights camping

Let us organise your trip to the Simiens from start to finish. We’ll pick you up from the morning flight from Addis Ababa at Gondar airport and get you up into the mountains for a slow acclimatizing hike near the lodge that afternoon. Don’t worry: your park passes, guide and scout are included. You will spend one night at the lodge before embarking on a 3-day / 2-night camping trek in the mountains (transfer into the park, tent, rest mat, and all food included — ideally you can bring your own sleeping bag). You’ll be camping at Sankaber and Gich camps — which are nearing 4000m above sea level, so dress warm! We’ll pick you up after you’ve been to Imet Gogo and hiked to the road, and bring you back to Limalimo for another night on our comfy mattresses. The next day we’ll get you back to Gondar airport in time for the evening flight out.

2 nights at Limalimo with lots of kid-focused activities included

We welcome families at Limalimo. You are met at Gondar airport in the morning and proceed to Limalimo with an optional stop at the castles. After lunch you’re into treasure hunts and a drink for yourselves . We have a kids menu and serve it up at a kid-friendly hour. Your guide, scout and entrance fees are included. At night you can park the kids in the adjacent room (connected by an internal door). We’re not going to put them to sleep for you but there is a nanny available to watch your sleeping kids while you eat. Day two takes you to the other side of the park by car, where you will see Gelada monkeys and the Jinbar Waterfall. A packed lunch is provided so you can spend as long as you like with the Geladas. That night the kids can hang out by the campfire with hot chocolate and the next day you’ll enjoy a leisurely pancake breakfast. You can have an early lunch in time for the drive back to Gondar so as to catch your afternoon flight to Addis.

Coffee, cake (& gin) are available at all times.

Recommended for kids ages 4+. Otherwise, there could be some kids-on-shoulders hiking required.

the perfect long weekend

Catch the early flight to Gondar on a Friday, and we’ll meet you at the airport to take you straight up to the lodge. Your guide, scout, and park passes are included. You’ll be with us by lunch, and can spend the afternoon on the trails near the lodge, overlooking the famous Limalimo switchbacks. Day two takes you to the other side of the park by car, where you will see Gelada monkeys and the Jinbar Waterfall. Back to Limalimo for sundowners with a great sunset from the terrace. Day three includes early morning sunrise yoga (optional) and a visit to Limalimo village, where you’ll enjoy a coffee ceremony with one of our neighbours. After an early lunch we’ll make sure you’re at the airport in time to fly back to Addis.
